Just as we are born with certain gifts, we are also born with Light within us.  I believe this light is the Light of Christ.  It is our conscience.  If we make good choices, try to be a good person, and strive to learn of God and His teachings, we will receive more and more light.  If we make choices that go against the Laws of God, we lose that light until there is none left within us.  Like Alomar in my book.

Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

In my book Alomar represents Satan.  The people who chose to follow Alomar represent the evil spirits that run around tempting us to do things we shouldn’t.  They are the “principalities, powers, and rulers of the darkness of this world.” I also believe, with my whole soul, that there is a God who loves us and sends His angels to help protect us and to help us make good choices just like the guardians in my story.  It is completely up to us who we choose to listen to and believe.  So often it is easier to believe the negative things about ourselves and we allow those thoughts to creep in and consume us.  We can ask the Lord for help and He will make it easier to push those negative thoughts out and focus on the positive.  

C.S. Lewis said, “Each day we are becoming a creature of splendid glory or one of unthinkable horror.”

Just as Shelby is becoming a powerful Wielder of Light so can you. Our thoughts and choices absolutely create who we are.  You truly can become a ‘creature of splendid glory.’
